mindmeld, RE: I have to agree with you, Lizzie. Bush and friends are in bed with oil. Oil money is part of the package that got him re-elected. He's not liable to do anything drastic to reduce oil consumption during his last term in office. I hate to say it, because I'm a Republican, but we need a tree-hugger Democrat in office for 8 years to spearhead us off the oil dependence, if we're ever going to have a chance at it.

Sigh.

It isn't too long ago that people were accusing W's dad of pushing the price of crude down to increase demand.

The #1 best way to reduce demand for crude is high prices. We're getting that. Everything else will be taken care of by the market. It always does with commodities, and crude oil is still a commodity.
