Raymond, Thats very interesting and I guess it just shows that politics, not ideology always comes first to the mind of a politician. But it could be that this Dorchester approach is a holdover from the 1960's; at the Dorchester website I noticed that the keynote speakers from the 1990's included some fairly strong conservatives. Maybe the idea is to gather together these "liberal" party members from the grass roots and harangue them with the message from the right.

I don't know much about the Northwest, but here in the South I think the trend is in the other direction; that is to chase any lefties out of the party. But as for isolationists/fiscal conservatives they are extinct.
