It's a never ending fascinating exercise to type with you, Michael.

To put my argument another way, I don't think the principle problem for the Dems is at the ideational level. You do. I think it's more an organizational one. That's the portion of Bradley's argument with which I agree.

My guess is that the Dems are learning how to act as the oppositional party rather than a "just out of power" governing party. If I'm right, they are going to get a lot tougher. Harry Reid, much to my surprise, has the senate well organized. And seems to have taken to heart the opposition party argument.

We'll see them using battles like the social security one, Bolton's nomination, and certainly any supreme court nominations and some lower level federal court appointments, to make the case for what they stand for, and to build support for the next election.

I think it's much too early whether Reid can pull this off. And whether it will go some distance toward providing part of the answer Bradley discusses.

Just two nice guys talking politics to one another.
