Many 30 and 40 YO Americans are beginning to understand that they are the pigeon in this game. And they are beginning to realize who is playing for them and who is playing to continue to take them to the cleaners. Actually on both public opinion polling grounds and substantive grounds, the opposite is happening. Bush's plan, in so far as one can speak of a nonplan as a plan, would reduce SS benefits fairly dramatically for that demographic. And public opinion polling suggests the more folk learn about the Bush plan to do away with SS, the more they dislike it.
