Bill, The University I attended (Dalhousie in Halifax, NS) was founded based on Privateering profits - specifically from spoils from Castine and Bath, Maine :-) This was War of 1812 timeframe. You may also not realize that there were more than 13 colonies. Pitched battles were fought between British forces and settlers in Nova Scotia during the Revolutionary war - but the colonists lost these and were mostly forgotten. After the War - Nova Scotia and whats now Ontario were filled with Loyalists. John
