But I am not at all sure that HE knows what is going through his mind. Lately I have been reading things by and about the early American statesmen: Washington, Adams, Jefferson, etc. They all were perfectly frank about the need, or inevitability, of a government acting purely in its own interest in all matters concerning foreign affairs.
