Jobs are not "owned". They aren't American jobs. I hired Americans to do work for me at QUALCOMM because they were the best available at the time. Now that Dr Who Jintao and his predecessor Jiang Zemin, not to mention Mr Black and White Cat Deng Tsiao Ping, have got China out of Mao's Maelstrom [sort of, but with some way to go and with threat of a reversion to barbarism], I have switched to hiring Chinese to do some of the work because the talent is high and the cost is low. I'm also hiring Indians. China and India are buying a lot of CDMA and will buy a LOT more. There are millions of highly talented Chinese and Indians keen to join in the Great Globalisation and earn a load of money, create and buy some amazing stuff such as those phantastic phragmented photon CDMA cyberphones complete with superlative software. Americans will also buy the excellent cyberphones and software services developed in China. They will be charge 7% royalty by Chinese companies which will be passed on to QUALCOMM who will pass it on to me, completing the happy circling of capital and harmonizing the Great Globalisation so all are included; happily, I can go shopping and investing around the world. There are lots of things for Americans to do as shown by the low unemployment rate, good economic growth, and continuing surge of Mexicans across the border to do things the Americans are not willing to do for the pay offered. There is no grand strategy AGAINST China. To explain it more clearly, Chinese are now able to bike around the hutongs yakking on their swanky new CDMA cyberphones. They can work at the QUALCOMM software factory [from home probably to avoid polluted commuting time]. Or, they can work for those who are working for QUALCOMM [who have got lots of money to spend]. Or, they can work for one of the many downstream CDMA operations such as service providers, cyberphone makers, infrastructure builders, those serving those industries, or those serving those who serve that CDMA realm. Pretty soon, the hutongs will be all bulldozed and swanky new apartments will offer salubrious accommodation with much cleaner air. Those filthy little carbonaceous cylinders used for cooking and polluting will be a thing of the past, like London's filthy smogs. I bet the Beijing penthouse apartment I didn't buy has doubled in value. Silly me!! It's a win, win, win, Winn world. Mqurice
