longnshort, Michael Schiavo did not walk away and turn his wife's care over to her parents because he was determined to carry out her expressed wishes of long ago. Several court proceedings were conducted and all held that it would not have been Terri Schiavo's intent to be kept "alive" in the condition she had been in for 15 years.

The Schiavos were not newlyweds. They had been married for six year at the time Terri Schiavo was stricken.

There is no particular money for Michael Schiavo to inherit, the malpractice award being all but depleted over the years, initially for various therapies for Terri Schiavo, then for her custodial care, and then for legal expenses--approved by the court--necessitated by the Schindlers repeatedly hauling Michael Schiavo into court.

The short answer is that I do not believe Michael Schiavo deserves vilification for not abandoning his wife to the self-centered demands of her parents. - Holly

Why didn't Mike just walk away and allow her parents to take over.
Because legally he is her closest kin and medical guardian?
Why didn't the PARENTS walk away and let him do it?

I really don't think terri said anything about pulling the plug, most 25 year old newly weds don't.
That's an opinion. Make like you're in a court and prove it.

And Mike never pushed for it until 4 years later when the settlement came in.
THAT is because HER parents didn't push the issue. Ask them why THEY waited so long.

If my in Laws were so upset about it, I would walk away.
That's you. Some people feel they have a deeper responsibility to their wives,

I think money was mike's motive
He got $1M to fuel a 15-year long legal action. How nuch do you think is left?
