I agree totally with you. The problem is many people just cannot get their Assets started till they reach middle age and beyond. Privatization of SS would give them a LEG UP. I am willing to bet that those of us not BORN RICH who have achieved some significant level of financial assets, did so through saving from youth. The MIRACLE of compounding accounts for many solid financial citizens. jdn

Perhaps her best Social Security is first herself and then mom and dad and finally grandma. The abilitly to build family assets has got to be a key to the future going forward.

I had a similar conversation with my son a few days ago.

He believes as the SS program sinks, extended family households will likely become the norm again.
