This is anecdotal evidence but recently, I had to take an exam required by the state of WA. All current and future teachers are required to take one in the area they plan to teach. In a classroom of 30 people, about half were taking the math endorsement. Of that, roughly 15 or 90% were women. I was surprised. However, its important to note that more women than men go into teaching so that, at least in part, may account for the disproportionate amount of women.

It would be interesting to see if this is normal. Your and my initial reaction would probably be that this is not normal. The English math teacher happens to be a woman. Yes it is anecdotal, but England is scientifically studying how to teach. The anecdotal evidence will be data for a larger study, which should improve English education.

It is interesting that the US federal government spent over a $Billion in the sixties and early seventies on researching education methods. More interesting is that the results were not to the liking of the teaching establishment and were impugned and buried.

PS - You go girl(s).

PPS - You go Ted!

PPPS - You are very logical, math could be a good field for you.

How'd you do on the test?

Half of 30 is 15.

15 is roughly 90% of 15?
