Dean is a moderate from Vermont. The state is known to be a wee far on the left wing. Dean may have been a moderate in the state. That is like the NYT calling someone a moderate. All it means is that they are moderately lunatic fringe whacko leftwingnut. As far as Kerry goes. I would call 75 percent liberal something less than moderate. The Senate was designed to be more conservative than the House. If seventy four Senators are more conservative than Kerry, he is a bit far left to be moderate to anyone but the NYT and the lunatic fringe.
