" There is no such story to be made out of a few low level State functionaries muttering boilerplate "..

Maybe..maybe not.

But the first stone has been cast into the water, and the ripples will certainly splash up against all countries in the ME, as they see this as an opening to further their own Nuke Free MidEast Position.

It has been the hypocrisy of a super-nuke Israel and a no-nuke everyone else scenario that makes the whole issue of who CAN and who CAN'T have nukes a farce,in the eyes of those willing to contemplate all countries as equals.

Pakistan - ruler by a dictator - NUKES OK.

India - arch-enemy of above - NUKES OK.

Israel -arch-enemy of everyone that doesn't agree - NUKES OK.

Iran - Arch-enemy of Israel - NUKES BAD BAD BAD

And on it goes, so that the very essence of the NPT is called into question, their mandate is now flawed, and may face the certainty of devolving into irrelevance ,such as what has happened to other world bodies under the negative influence of the American - Israel - British axis of hypocritical self-righteousness.

>>the US government actually was demanding that Israel unilaterally disarm in the face of soon-to-be Iranian nuclear missiles, they would be all over it like white on rice.<<

It is just another chip in the great poker game being played right now.

So tell me Nadine....if all countries in the ME , as well as India and Pac. and even maybe North Korea , were to give up their NUKES if Israel gave up theirs, would you find that an appealing proposition?
