My objection to the entire mess is that we should allow assisted suicide. The Christian Right is going to have to be brought into the 21st century for this to happen. This is going to be tough; they much prefer the 12th. And the problem here is only going to get worse. A hundred years ago this woman would have died quickly with the very best medical aid available. Now she can be kept going. And the number and percentage of people who can be "kept going" artificially is only going to grow with more medical techniques and drugs available. And many of those will be kept alive in pain against their will. I wish on those who think pain is to "the greater glory of God" to be allowed to experience it to its fullest extent. In fact, the best thing would be if it happened for a while to all of Congress, then they were brought back to vote on an assisted suicide bill. Those who believe otherwise are ignorant, fanatics, or masochists. And I'll stand by that statement. There would have to be a lot of safeguards in place but to allow human beings to suffer as I have witnessed when they plead to die is the inhuman thing. Lots of safeguards involving many people and opinions, yes. I've seen what you speak of. I wish it only on those who need convincing.
