besides we had a flatter distribution of wealth in the 70s vs today. There was no notion of the "working poor" then. That 3% is probably across the total disposable income in the nation.

Again, just the fact that a stock message board is sitting around talking about how this period is better than the 70s says it all. The 70s were the USA's darkest hour. The US economy went from hero to zero in 5 short years, its disgusting.
