So it's a given that humans "dispose" of animals. In the circumstance, I would argue that the only consideration humans should should show animals in their "disposal" of them is that it should be done "humanely", whatever that means. I do support vivisection and have, personally, experimented on and killed numerous animals about 40 years ago in experiments which I performed on the effects of severe haemorrhage. Such experiments could not easily have been done on humans. As far as cosmetics are concerned, I have no feelings either way. Some would argue that it is essential that experiments are done on animals to determine safety for humans. Others would argue that the experiments would actually be valueless and that tests have to be done on human volunteers. I, personally, am not particularly interested in cosmetics so whatever happens, happens. > I believe that "intellect" and our "mental skills" are what differentiate us from animals. I don't consider a brain-dead person as a wholly human being. Yes, it's an argument -- until it's your own child. And, indeed, many people, especially Americans, have more regard for their pets than they do for "sand niggers", "rag heads" or anyone else whom they or their religion have demonized. And that includes people with perfect intellects and mental skills.
