Phil > Very strong arguments can be made for both sides of this debate, and for anyone to declare his righteousness on either side is being either a fool wearing blinders, or simply a bigoted hypocrite in my opinion

I stand guilty as charged because I don't believe either the husband or the court had the right to dispose of Mrs Chiavo in the manner they did and especially in the circumstance that her parents were prepared to care for her. So much for the American legal system.

In terms of your argument, she was neither a foetus nor a criminal who was found guilty of a heinous crime. In fact, she was an innocent person who had suffered brain damage.

Further, I do not believe the matter was political but ethical. It was a display of how the American society is prepared to treat one of its less fortunate members and, as such, stands as an example for all to see.

Re: A person on death row committed a crime and was found guilty. Schiavo committed no crime and was completely innocent.

"Completely innocent"?!? You flunked your Bible course, dude! Remember: we're ALL sinners --the original sin. Then again, you missed the point: whatever the atrocities perpetrated by inmates on death row, I merely point out the fact that you --and the US legal system-- see fit to put them to death. Now, I say that is similar to the Schiavo case where some people have also deemed it preferable to "pull the plug" on a fellow human being. What entitles you to overrule THEIR motivations? You claim that it's all about "Justice" in the case of inmates condemned to the death penalty whereas it's a matter of an innocent's right (to live) in the other? But WHO stipulated that "Justice" of yours in the first place? Moses? Jesus? The KKK?
