That data is interesting, but I think we will see inventories rise sharply as transaction volumes fall ... probably some time this year.

I graphed that NAR PHSI vs. New Home Sales for the last year (I adjusted New Home Sales 2001 = 100, just like the Pending Home Sales Index). Here is the graph:

It will be interesting to see if that index provides any useful information going forward.
