higher prices will change demand. esp. for larger fuel eating trucks and cars. Just like in 70's when prices got high enough many turned in gas hogs for smaller cars. Lower and middle income people cannot afford throwing away dollars on gasoline if they have a long commute. they must start to car pool, go to mass transportation or find a more economical vehicle to get to work. We should see more vacations this summer closer to home vs travel across the country to resorts, tours, visit relatives , etc.

Perhaps the increase in home equity and low interest rates has delayed these changes but then will come about once that found money in home equity loans dry up.

Greenspan is to speak in San Antonio at 2:00 pm today according to CNBC. They mentioned something about a pre text being issued.
