...the floors are clean, and the kids are in college...or all grown up with kids of their own.

Then....
you get a dog or two....big and little...the BIG one tracks stuff in, wooshes his tail around, but is a love....and of course the little one thinks he's giagantic...close to the ground, brings in all of the dust and mud from outside, and laughs while he's doing it.

Maybe I need more kids to raise.

On second thought....dogs are easier, and decidedly cheaper.
