It *has* underperformed oil in the last couple of years, but a 60 or 70% increase in the POG since 2001 isn't bad!! And a 500% increase in a PM PF isn't too bad either. :^)

I much prefer a "stealth bull market" like this one to the bubbles that have been going on all around. The gold chart since 2001 is a thing of beauty!! You're thinking too short term IMO.

In Canada when the gold price was $35.00 it was subsidized by the government. It was not profitable at that price certainly in the 1960s.
