I found the data and reporting style in this article to be very suspicious. For example take a look at the final sentence:

"In some veterans’ families now, the only normal or healthy members of the family are the children born before the war."

What does this mean? In some cases people had children before the Gulf war. In some cases these families gave birth to a child after the war who was not normal or healthy. I find that believable.

I also suspect that in some cases there are veterans' families who had children before the war who were not healthy or normal, and after the war they had another child who was healthy or normal. In fact, based on the statistical norms, I can almost gaurantee it. Did the Gulf War cause that outcome for some veterans' families?

If there is a case of cause and effect here, it is lost in the obvious political bent of the author.
