Is not the second resurrection the resurrection of the souls in hell and all those still alive on the earth still living in rebellion against God and all those for whom the devil draws unto himself when he is loosed for a short season on the earth after the 1000 year reign. It would be referred to as the second death because the soul would already have been sent to hell however the body would have to re resurrected to also spend eternity in hell along with the soul.

Eternal punishment must, should, have to involve the soul and the body, just as eternal reward must also be a reward of the soul and body.

Like a blind man and a cripple man who wanted to rob a house. They told the judge. I cannot see and my friend cannot walk. How can we be robbers? The judge said. I know what you did. your cripple friend got on your back and you carried him into the house to rob. You were his legs and he was your eyes.

Likewise it takes both soul and body to sin. This is why Christ said to pluck out your eye or cut off you arm when tempted to sin. Rather spend you time on earth blind or armless rather than spend an eternity in hell. Christ understood it takes both soul and body to sin. Therefore it will be and eternal punishment or reward for both the body and the soul. For those that say it will be only a torment of the soul they are wrong. This is why the second resurrection in my mind is the resurrection of the dammed so they will be reunited with their bodies for their eternal punishment.

In Christ...Gregor
