The top Australian rate I know of is, four branch office, Citibank.com.au at 5.5%.

Westpac Bank and Commonwealth Bank, with walk-in offices scattered everywhere you look, offer the same rate for larger amounts or maturities of one year or more.

NAB rates are lower than these two competing mega-banks across the board. Plus they are the perennial sick bank of Australia.

ING Direct, with no walk-in offices, is close at 5.4%, but only available to Australian nationals.

Make sure she keeps the Aussie Passport. I'm convinced it's the land of the future.
