AKA:

Good comments.

As noted earlier, I am long gold and short the stock market, (and admittedly perhaps "earlie" on both counts). I am comfortable with this bet as I think that the public's evolving perception of the big employment picture will have more impact on the markets than any other single item. Of course the government makes every effort to puff up the employment numbers but as more and more folks lose their hi-pay jobs and/or end up flipping burgers, those statistical lies become obvious. Worse, under or unemployed families sure as heck buy fewer goods. Unfortunately, the global economy continues to count on the all-consuming American consumer. My research efforts suggest that the US consumer is already "pulling in his horns" and that this process has already acquired "critical mass".

We shall see.

Best, Earlie
