I totally agree with you! One of the things the Europeans seem to do much better than Americans is prepare all children for lives as adults, by teaching everyone subjects like history so they are literate and politically interested, and by offering crafts/shop classes that are actually designed to prepare children for careers, not just dead-end them. Although I am not sure what I think about non college-bound teenagers ending school at 15. It may be an excellent plan, but I don't know enough about it to offer an opinion. The book The Notebook is better than the movie, I hope?
