I just got a new 5MP $279 Casio EX-Z55 camera and a new Samsung SC-D353 [got kids] videocam for the same price and find that I must now invest in two more flash form factors: SD amd Memory Stick. [BTW, I was told by Casio to buy commodity SD for it instead of Ultra 2 which Steve's Digicam Review routinely recommends. He said that not only would this particular camera be just as fast using the cheaper memory, but that he occasionally got complaints of problems from users of ultra 2 memory that he solved by switching them to commodity SD. Anyone heard this before?] Back to my main question: are CF, SD, Memory Stick mainly just different form factors. If so, doesn't this needless fragmentation of the industry impose severe costs on consumers and producers alike?
