I don't think that was the reason for the "postponement" of the Dateline show, assuming there ever was a show. The "Stockgate" piece was never actually announced by NBC; it was Investrend, Faulk, and a few others who claimed it'd be aired on the 10th.

Reports from anonymous sources suggest that NBC gave up on Stockgate nearly a year ago. I think there may have been a more prosaic problem: it's my understanding that O'Quinn and Christian wanted money for "exclusive rights" to their information.

I'm sure many people advised Dateline that the GetShorty bunch didn't know what they were talking about. In recent weeks DTC has been uncharacteristically responsive to questions about "naked shorting". They're obviously annoyed, and I suppose it's possible that they gave Nightline a call.

But my guess is that the whole thing has been such a headache for Nightline that they've had enough.
