Rightwingers use token minorities then dare you to "go after them" when they're obviously wrong-headed or not qualified.

Clarence Thomas was an example. Trying to stop his nomination didn't cost Democrats a single black vote. Thomas was simply being used, as Condi Rice and Powell have been. Now Powell was qualified, but Rice still isn't. She's simply a robotic yes-woman who failed in her duties as security advisor by being asleep at the wheel on terrorism and lying to us all multiple times about WMD's. Her previous experience had been as provost at Stanford and sitting on the board of Chevron. Meanwhile all the real security experts were shunted aside at the White House, including Richard Clarke.

By the way, when are Rice and Bush going to apologize to us for 9-11 like Clarke did?

Yes the GOP loves to puts its few minority members in the spotlight, but behind closed doors GOP rallies are 95% white and 85% male. Therefore the blacks and hispanics see right through it. Look at Alan Keyes. He got what, 20% of the vote in Illinois. Nice try. Martinez will eventually fall because he is mixed in with the corrupt gang, but he has strong support from ultra rightwing Cubans in Miami. Florida as a whole needs to wake up. And maybe they have. I doubt Jeb Bush would get re-elected if if he had to run again now.
