When you hire a CEO from Mackenzie and Co., you can expect disaster and lawsuits. It is really sad, because the old Morgan Stanley was a creme de la creme shop before Dean Witter "discovered" them. I had problems with them, but I have problems with everyone. Still, there is no comparison between the POS as it exists today and the old whitebread gentile elite firm.

It would be nice if boards actually started doing their jobs, but I think it is more likely that folks will stop volunteering to be on boards. There is no way a board that meets for a few days a quarter can stay on top of the day to day activities of a company. But they can certainly look at results and take action after the fact. Most won't, don't or can't.
