Good thoughts:

I look forward to the time when more throughout the world view America as a good place in the world and that we promote what most level headed people believe in. Peace and prosperity.

Unfortunately a lot of hate and misery in the world, and they need someone to blame I guess. But to blame the wrong folks only hurts the complainers, and it deepens the divide amongst us.

Lets start by making SI inaccessible from outside the country. It and a million other BBs are filled with anti American spew coming from leftwingnuts. Thank goodness when the shoe was on the other foot we did not engage in the same activities. We did attempt futilely to enforce the Constitutional requirement to remove from office the criminal. Democrats loved power more than honor.

You are right, we must accept personal responsibility. If I called Tom DeLay guilty, I would be no better than the people who summarily wanted Clinton thrown out prior to the court ruling on his perjury, or on the Arkansas Bar ruling to Disbar him.

REDNECK FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

Regarding your disagreement with the statement "guns dont kill people,
people kill people". Yes the gun is an instrument, but I have never seen a
gun on trial for murder.

The key statement is `I have never seen a gun on trial for murder'. If you're a logical thinker, you will say `so what?'. The statement is apparently true. The writer almost certainly has not seen a gun on trial for murder, and probably nor have most people. But so what?
I have never seen a poison gas on trial for murder. I have never seen a nuclear weapon on trial for murder. I have never seen a biological weapon on trial for murder. I have never seen a virus on trial for murder. But so what? Does this mean that these things do not kill people? Obviously not. All it means is that these things do not go on trial for murder, basically because they're not human.

If someone tells you that arsenic is okay in your food because they never saw a bottle of arsenic on trial for murder, do you consume the arsenic? If someone tells you it's okay for all the countries of the world to buy nuclear weapons for their military forces, do you say `well, no nuclear weapons have ever been on trial for murder'?

The correct question to ask is: Has anyone been on trial for using a gun?. Clearly the answer is yes, in very large numbers indeed. The number of gunshot murders in the United States (about 110 gun murders per million people per year) is currently about 15 times the rate per capita as in Australia. Australia has strong gun laws and few guns. The USA has weak gun laws and very many guns. The total of all murders in Australia is 30 per million per year, of which a small proportion used guns.

If you maintain a cool, logical state of mind, and if you have the right of reply, then you can work your way through most non sequiturs. When I was in high school, I remember that the teachers sometimes taught the students how to examine advertising for false logic. I think that everyone should have the benefit of such logical training.

An evening at RED'S TRAILOR :)

The REDNECK Family
Martha: Mmm! No! (pulls gun from RED) No one's using this gun! The TV said you're 58 percent more likely to shoot a family member than an intruder!

RED: TV said that . . . ? But I have to have a gun! It's in the Constitution!

RED KID: Dad! The Second Amendment is just a remnant from revolutionary days. It has no meaning today!

RED: You couldn't be more wrong, RED KID. If I didn't have this gun, the king of England could just walk in here anytime he wants and start shoving you around. (pushing RED KID) Do you want that? (pushing RED KID harder) Huh? Do you?

RED KID: (quietly indignant) No . . .

RED: All right, then.
