I suspect once you get into what is really happening, you will find kickbacks, "gifts," advance trading, leaking of information, head fakes, etc., all of the excesses that admittedly exist in other manipulative schemes on the long side.

The real key here is that for a long time those who "walk like a duck" as you post have been purposely below the radar. Now that they are in a little spotlight, the howls of protest are delightful.
