I thought the edge-flaking stuff was a 200mm 130nm SOI problem that AMD had back in 2003, solved about 6 months after Opteron launched?

To be honest I don't remember the details of AMD's SOI problems.

The 300mm problems I mentioned yesterday was definitly not AMD or an SOI issue. The problem was the dielectrics used in their metal stacks and was a 300mm vs 200mm yield issue.

That said, I found the yield comments from Charter that someone posted yesterday to be very encouaging. I know its been said here before, but I think AMD was very smart to wait for 300mm to be figured out.
