AMD's flirtations with Dell are nothing more than self inflicted wounds. As you rightly point out Dell is a one processor company. They just like to make their sugar momma a little jealous so that she offers more dollars. This hurts AMD, because it hurts AMDs customers. HP/Sun/IBM/et al have to compete with a Dell who is getting a whole lot of love from Intel.

If AMD were to take the public position that if Dell were interested in buying they should look at the price list and make an order, Intel wouldn't feel the need to put out -- and AMD's customers would be the better for it, AMD would be better for it and Intel would be better for it. The only real loser would be that tease, Dell.
