Slick also praised the Pope's political abilities, saying that he(b. clinton) would not have wanted to run against him in an election...Quite the ego indeed....the man almost has the class of a three-peckered billy goat.

RE:number of priests in the USA over the Pope's tenure may have gone decreased, but worldwide, it is up.

Is that because of all the jailed pedophiles?

Aren't all legacies 'mixed'?

I'd venture that Clinton's words were highly complimentary of the former Pope:

"...Clinton, on the flight to Rome earlier this week, had said that John Paul "may have had a mixed legacy," but he called him a man with a great feel for human dignity. There will be debates about him. But on balance, he was a man of God, he was a consistent person, he did what he thought was right," Clinton said. "That's about all you can ask of anybody."

It also appears that, at times, the Pope was an equal-opportunity critic of many of the actions and policies of all of our Presidents during his reign....
