A good example is social security. Personally i am not for private acccounts within SS. I would much rather follow the private pension system model and have managers bid on the contracts with the govt to manage the money. It is an alternative to the Bush plan which i feel will fail because most investor will blow their money when they invest, particularly if they invest like i have over the years.
Anyway to my real point--where are the dems? They say:
1. NO crisis when everyone realizes deep down there is one.
2. Raise taxes which is their recommmendation on every issue.
3. Reduce benefits for the wealthy forgetting what FDR's goal was when SS established.

How come there are no democrats offering my rather moderate solution of private mgt of SS funds to increase the return? Or any other alternatives for that matter. Thats why i call the dems the R&R party--reactionary and rejectionist on almost every issue. Make no mistake--todays republicans are beatable. Reagan revolution is long in the tooth. Conservatives are often giving pat answers to complicated matters too. But at least they talk to the future while the demos are mired in vietnam for fp and in the 50s and 60s with domestic policy.
