I wrote the quote on the bottom of the page. I dont understand your objection and i dont see the conflict with the rest of what i wrote. I am not sure that the pope was a pacifist in terms of self defense when one is attacked. He may have looked at iraq in evolutionary terms as he did with eastern europe where he pushed for freedom but not war or military confrontation. For all i know he might have been against Reagan's military build up in the 80s (dont know). I am a bit confused with your reply.

<Not every international issue needs to be settled by war. Pope would use Poland and the fall of the iron curtain as an example. He had a different view on going to war in iraq than some of us. I suspect that he might be a true pacifist having seen what happened in WW2.>
