In 1871, the NRA was founded by former Union Officers. The same year that the NRA was founded, the President of the United States, U.S. Grant, signed the Klan Act and Enforcement ACT which declared that the Klan was a TERRORIST ORGANIZATION, and allowed the federal government to suppress and disrupt the Klan. The Enforcement Acts guaranteed blacks equal protection under the law, it also protected blacks' right to vote, protected their right to hold public office, and protected the right of blacks to serve on juries.
