Israel already granted the Waqf the right to continue overseeing the Temple Mount (since 1967), and were repaid with a huge amount of unapproved and unsupervised digging out of the mount, supposedly to create underground mosques, destroying priceless archaeological data. They dug so much they destabilized the Temple Mount, and jordanian experts had to be called in to shore it up. Meanwhile the PA announced every day that the Jewish temple never even existed. It's tough to share anything with somebody who denies that your history exists. According the Pals, there are no Jewish sacred places in Israel.
