I have standardized on CF and SD
i only buy gadgets if they use CF or SD.
My latest camera is a Fuji, i bought it because it sports both an xd slot ,that i don't use, *and* a CF slot.

Larger cards are slower at startup, which would imply a sequential process. A form factor that supported circuitry that performed startup with a parallel process might speed things up. I don't know anything about flash controller circuitry or if there is any relationship between form factor and circuitry.
