Cars are regulated, speeds enforced, airbags and seatbelts mandatory, need keys to start them, drivers licensed and no ultra-dangerous cars are allowed. Also, nobody really NEEDS a gun except a cop or hunter, but cars are necessary. The NRA wants no such regulations vis a vis gun ownership. They say they're for keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, but not only is that dishonest (because the more guns out there the more will fall into wrong hands) but their only excuse for having arsenals is that well-armed criminals might attack. So it's a self-fulfilling prophesy. What it's really all about is money and racism, plus some guys just like to play with dangerous toys.
