"In a related issue, Colorado Gov. Bill Owens (R) exercised a rare veto this week, for a bill that would have required all hospitals - including Catholic ones - to inform rape victims about the availability of emergency contraceptives."

story.news.yahoo.com.

Wow, this country has really taken a U-turn back into the 50s !

Scary.

I wonder if there's a correlation between a country going down hill and religious fanatics taking control?

Well, we have more GOPers in power than we've had for a very long time. I think the right has been plotting to take control for some time..........while the rest of us were sleeping.

Its unfortunate because those of us who oppose them are not making ourselves visible enough. A majority of Americans agreed that Terri Schiavo's feeding tube should be removed. However, who was protesting outside her hospice? They make sure they are visible and that gives the appearance they are the majority when they are not.

BTW the CO governor is a scary guy. He is surprisingly right for the state he governs. And he's very visible........and is making quite a name for himself. I think he plans to run for national office.

Have you heard of country of Iran? I believe the inclusion of the phrase "separation of church and state" in the constitution is pure genius considering when it was written.

Allowing religious hospitals to not endorse or support actions that they consider murder is hardly a case of having fanatics taking control of the country.
