That was the election where Nixon's dirty tricks team was in full force, burglarizing, surveiling, character assasinating etc. using black ops CIA type agents. Nixon's dirty tricks head Charles Colson hired a fresh-faced vet named John O'Neill to join his dirty tricks team against the anti war veterans including John Kerry. 40 years later O'Neill reappears, lying to the nation and leading a smear campaign called the SwiftVets "for truth".
