The Swiss have a homogenous, mostly affluent middle class culture. They don't have people who are desperate, and they don't have ethnic gang rivalry. The guns they possess are supposed to be used to defend their country only. If they break into the ammunition boxes there is a serious penalty. This does not seem to dissuade people who are so depressed they want to commit suicide (because they will not pay the penalty, not being around to be subject to it). If I were you, I would be more concerned about high rate of gun homicides in America that you refer to (suicides and accidental deaths also, really), rather than worrying about what is happening in a tiny mountain country that has no relevance at all.
