In Europe most of the gas tax billions are used to line the pockets of welfare and other liberal/socialistic ideology programs.
Some of the tax revenues are used to improve the road systems.

Right. Which is why people don't use public transportation, regardless of how much you spend on it. They want to drive their cars.

You really want to get them using public transportation? Get rid of the parking spaces downtown.
