Dustin,

Registry entries can start programs automatically. Try a startup monitor program which should detect everything that starts automatically, whether in the startup folder or not. As mentioned in recent posts, Spybot and MS antispyware both include a startup monitor. There's lots of other free programs that do this as well.

As an addition to Esteban's post...you might want to check out this site. It's a reputable site that has all kinds of tweaks (some script based) that claim to correct XP problems, or tweak XP. Lots of tweaks there.

Scroll down to # 255 on the left side and see the entry to the right side.(My Documents Folder Opens Upon Boot (for C:\) You can click on that entry and it will download a script based tweak. Whether it will solve the problem or not I don't know.
