As a shareholder, I naturally have some mixed feelings about it each time I have to buy another card.

Sam, my first CF card was 15MB and cost $139.99 at Ritz Camera.

Today you can get a 1 gig card for under $100, 512MB of memory for under $40 and 256MB under $25.
Card costs are becoming inconsequential. IMHO, SanDisk would have benefitted from promoting a
collectible line of flash cards. Ideas that would have been possible include a US Olympics
sponsorship together with CF cards that sported the stickman logos of each of the sports (with say
a donation to each of the respective sports in return for a purchase), cards with Chinese or Japanese
characters (red or white characters on a black background) standing for "reliability" or "memory" etc.,
designs representing the four seasons (snowflake, spring crocus, summer sun and fall leaf), etc...

You can think of a million possibilities.

The foundation for this type of program would be the success of Swatch watches. Their designs allowed
people to purchase several "disposable" watches in various colors, sizes and designs without letting
them feel they were overly extravagant. Or gave one the feeling of extravagance without breaking the bank.
