The religious right doesn't believe in humans as part of the natural world or biological reality. They believe God created us separate from the animal kingdom to lord over the earth, smite anyone different than us (including Mormons and Presbyterians) and be ignorant of sexual matters except where procreation is involved. This is proven by the fact they argue that Mary was a virgin, sex leads to death, condoms don't work, masturbation leads to stunted growth and warts, most sex is a sin, terminating a pregnancy is murder and anyone who has sex out of wedlock is a whore. But if you torture someone at Abu Graib, pollute the environment or collect AK-47's for Armageddon you're on the right track.
