I worry that some of the more graphic games, with realistic blood, and lots of killing, desensitize youngsters.

On the other hand, I think people who are already limited in their social skills can be drawn to computer games precisely because they already have deficits, and sometimes they don't have other outlets (actually, I think we can say the same things about the net- some people who cannot function with people in 3d spend all their time on the net- and are doing the best they can to have "friends" here, sometimes to the exclusion of "every day manners" and inter-personal relationships that people have in 3d). Many kids with behavioral problems or disabilities like computer simulation games and video games, because it is so hard for them to be accepted in the real world.

I do think that playing video games too much takes up valuable time that could be spent reading or playing in 3d- and that worried me, from a developmental standpoint.
