AMD could probably launch now but are waiting for their Opteron anniversary to make a show of it.

Re: Intel proposes to launch dual-core chipsets this month

AMD's dual core supporting chipsets have been in production and available at retail for 18 months.

You're rather obviously someone who's short and being squeezed, hard. If you want to pick at something, you should whine about flash, where Intel seems to be determined to make AMD lose money, even if Intel has to lose $10 for every $1 AMD loses.

Intel can afford to lose $1 Billion more than AMD can afford to lose $100 Million, and both companies know it.

In CPUs, Intel is floundering, and that understates the case.

Intel proposes to launch dual-core chipsets this month
Intel has decided to advance the launch of its Pentium 840 Extreme Edition and 955X chipsets for the high-end markets to the middle of this month, motherboard makers indicated. See full story later.

Good engineering that produces good products has been replaced by phony marketing of dubious products of dubious use.

May the reign of Otillini be long and un-successful! :)
