You yourself have mentioned some of the fat (the route structure), and fat is not necessary visible to riders.


That's true but usually if there is fat in the back offices, there is usually fat in the front offices as well.

What other tranportation systems struggles to keep up service when some of its engines are recalled for repairs? Its pathetic how tight things are at Amtrak.
